"Creating impact through design is what IDEO does," declares Gretchen Addi, Associate Partner at IDEO, "and the intent of the 2014 Silicon Valley Positive Aging Forum -- Design Challenge: Aging-in-Place, Silicon Valley- is to create action that will have impact." (Read more ...)
That's Why... IDEO has partnered with the Institute for Age-Friendly Housing to co-create Design Challenge: Aging-in-Place, Silicon Valley. "IDEO wants to be part of building a new dialogue and movement around aging. Since our roots are in Silicon Valley, this is a great place to start," says Addi.
IDEO is an award-winning global design firm that takes a human-centered, design-based approach to helping organizations in the public and private sectors innovate and grow.
IDEO's approach, which is called design thinking, brings together what is desirable from a human point of view with what is technologically feasible and economically viable. It also allows people who aren't trained as designers to use creative tools to address a vast range of challenges. "Let's start a movement in Silicon Valley," suggests Addi, "a grass roots and collaborative work-in-progress, that all generations and organizations here can embrace with relief and enthusiastic support!"
And the place to start is the Sixth Annual Silicon Valley Positive-Aging Forum: Design Challenge: Aging-in-Place, Silicon Valley, on September 30, 2014, at the Quinlan Center, Cupertino, CA.
